Familymediation.co.uk started life as Staffordshire Mediation Limited, which incorporated in March 2011. Since then, the company has expanded and we now offer mediation services throughout England & Wales and even further afield, including international clients.
We are also able to provide Child Inclusive Mediation (CIM) where it is appropriate.
By arrangement we can provide evening and weekend appointments.
We are also able to provide one-day intensive mediations – helpful where time is of the essence. Please contact us for details of prices and process involved.
We can offer both remote mediations, via Zoom, Teams and telephone or in person.
Edward Palmer, Barrister-at-Law & Accredited Mediator LLB (Hons), LLM (Distinction), Dip.P.G.L.S
Edward has practised as a barrister from Regent Chambers since 2001 and specialises in
family law. Routinely, disputes include: child arrangements, specific issue / prohibited steps, enforcement, financial remedies, financial provision for children and cohabitation issues.
In his role as a mediator, Edward seeks to assist the parties resolve their dispute in a proactive manner to save them the time, expense and inconvenience of going through the Court system, wherever possible.
Edward has also taught on the LBA mediators training course for several years.
Anita Craig FMCA, LLB (Hons), LLM (1 st ), PGDL, PGCE: Barrister-at-Law (unregistered)
Anita came to law as a second career and has vast experience in industry, hospitality and education.
She was called to the Bar in 2003, completed her Master’s Degree in Family Law a year later, before going on to do a further Degree in Education and spending more than 10 years as an academic, teaching at various Universities.
In 2011 she set up Staffordshire Mediation Ltd with Edward Palmer, and in 2013, became a fully Accredited Family Mediator. Qualification as a Civil Mediator followed and she is a member of Family Mediation Council (FMC) and the Civil Mediation Council (CMC). She continues to train new Mediators in both Family and Civil qualifications.
She specialises not only in Family Mediation, but also in Workplace and Employment Mediations and Neighbour Dispute Resolution, holding contracts for various Housing Associations and Local Authorities.
She also conducts Mediation training for lawyers, students, the judiciary and the bench.
Ed Johnson LLB (Hons), Accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator, provisionally accredited FMC Family Mediator
Ed is a highly experienced lawyer, business owner and mediator with over 20 years background in civil litigation. He formally retrained as a civil and commercial mediator in 2015 and undertook additional training as a family mediator in 2016.
Ed works in all aspects of civil and family disputes, particularly dealing with property and inheritance matters.
He works with clients of high net worth achieving settlements through thorough examination and discussion of options, including asset division share options and inheritance planning.
Ed conducts workshops for other mediators and law students and has served as a judge in the
National Mediation Competition for the University of Law.
Ed strongly believes that mediation should be the first resort for any dispute not simply for areas where mediation has been a traditional service.
Rebekah Smith, LLB (Hons); LPC MSc
Rebekah has a background in legal advice and community support. She brings a calm and empathetic presence to the mediation space. Rebekah is qualified in neighbour and employment mediation and is currently completing her portfolio in family mediation. Alongside this work, she supports vulnerable young people as a provider of supported lodgings, offering a stable home environment during times of transition.
Lorraine Bramwell
Lorraine has nearly 30 years’ professional experience of helping people resolve disputes. She trained as a Mediator in 1995 having already had a number of years working with people in dispute in a range of situations.
She is accredited both as a Family and Civil and Commercial Mediator and became a Legal Services Commission recognised Mediator in 1998. Lorraine has successfully mediated many hundreds of cases and has resolved disputes in family, workplace, civil and commercial, education, voluntary sector and disability issues. She is an Approved Member of the College of Mediators, a member if the Civil Mediation Council and holds Family Mediation Council Accreditation. Lorraine also has a Master’s degree in Mediation and Conflict Resolution, degree in Psychology and a post graduate Diploma in Applied Social Studies.
Lorraine is also a well-established national trainer of Mediators. She has developed and teaches a number of specialisms including consulting children in mediation and managing high conflict cases.
Lorraine acts as Professional Practice Consultant for Anita, Edward & Rebekah.
Nationally, she has held the positions of both the Director and Chair of the College of Mediators and continues to play an active role in the development of mediation standards as a member of the Family Mediation Standards Board, but her first love has always been helping people find the best way forward to sort out disputes through her practice – LBA Mediation Services and teaching others to do this well by providing high quality professional Mediation training with the LBA Excellence Programme.
